Scamp for sale

 

  I haven't quite decided on a fair price for this yet.  Make me an offer.  I should have a price in a day or so.   This Scamp has A/C, a propane furnace, a gas cooktop, a 2 way refrigerator (propane/electric), many 12 volt receptacles & USB plugs in four different locations, an awning, 2 propane tanks, and a weight distribution hitch.  The former owner used the weight distribution hitch, and it came with the trailer when I bought it, but I never used it.  I did use a sway bar, and that also comes with the trailer.  It has EZ-Lube hubs.   I've seen a few variations of the Layout 6 - here is a diagram of ours: In addition, there are cabinets above and below the fridge and some storage compartments below both dinette seats.  We left the bed down all the time and used 4 large black plastic storage boxes from Home Depot to store things under the bed as well, under the spot marked "TABLE" in the diagram above.  I made the p...

My fridge door would no longer latch shut in my 2003 Scamp 16'.  The latch looked OK, but the spring inside was broken.  New latches are available, but they cost $40 on Amazon.  I've seen them for $70 elsewhere.  I decided to see if I could fix mine.   This is what a good spring looks like.   I bought some .025" music wire, a.k.a. piano wire, at my local well stocked hardware store for a few dollars.  I took the latch off the fridge by removing two screws.  The latch is made from two pieces of plastic held together by a long steel pin.  I removed the steel pin by pushing it out from the bottom upward with a stiff wire of smaller diameter than the pin.   Starting with a 5 inch length of the music wire I bent the wire into shape.  I used the steel pin as a form to wrap the wire around as I made the coils.  I trapped the wire and the pin between two small pieces of wood held together with vice grips as I made some o...
